Lawns… that time of year

Weeds are an on-going problem in any neighborhood.  Weeds impact everyone.  If your neighbor has weeds, you can be sure you will, too – they don’t honor property lines!  Some ways to battle weeds in your yard are:

  • Apply pre-emergents (check with garden shop for schedule for your type of grass)
  • Spread weed ‘n feed, fertilizer, etc. as directed on the packaging
  • Pull weeds
  • Get a service (the HOA uses Arbornomics but there are many others out there, as well.)

Weeds in flower beds can be addressed using a variety of methods:

End of School Year Pool Party

For the last few years we have had an end of school year pool party.  We hope you can join us this year as we celebrate another great year!
The Elementary school bus driver (Mrs. B?) agreed to drop kids off at the pool parking lot – provided they have a note from their parents granting her permission to do that. Mrs. B will make all the stops in the neighborhood first and then stop at the pool parking lot on her way out – so if you do NOT wish to have your child dropped off at the pool parking lot they will be dropped off at their regular stop first.
We can throw water balloons at the kids once the kids are clear of the bus (we pick up the balloon fragments afterwards so no dogs will choke on them).
Please bring a snack &/or drinks to share – on Wednesday, May 25th around 12:30 (for elementary kids, older kids get out later).
We also need volunteers to make some water balloons – the kids go through them quickly!
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
  • Give a note granting permission for your elementary school child to be let off the bus at the pool parking lot to Mrs. B by Wednesday (May 25th) morning.
  • Sunblock, towel, bathing suit
  • Snack &/or drink to share
Thanks – hope to see you there!

Halloween Party A Great Success!

I hope everyone had as much fun as me at the neighborhood party today! Loved the costumes and the food y’all brought. We have a great neighborhood!

I do have to report that a pair of girls black shoes were left behind, so if the owners will let me know, I’ll bring them by. Again thanks to all and we’ll see you around!!

Halloween Party Sunday, 10/26 2P-5P

Hey neighbors, we will have our annual Halloween party on October 26th from 2-5 in the pool parking lot. As usual, there will be music, dancing, food, prizes and fun!

I will be out of town, but Mary Stockstill has said she will help me. She could use some volunteers for set up and at the end.

Please bring a side dish, we don’t need desserts as we will purchase that along with chicken.

I’m sad that I won’t be there, but I will be thinking of all of you from my balcony on the Norwegian Pearl cruise line! (I have never been on a vacation where I wasn’t cooking and cleaning!)

Going to Mars? I am.. join me!

Well… at least my family’s names and my name are going to Mars. Nasa is launching it’s new capsule this December. This mission will be the first to test Nasa’s newest hardware while on its way to Mars! This will also be the first object made for carrying people to go to Mars and is the longest journey for such an object since the days of the Apollo missions.

Check out my boarding pass below by clicking on the image and sign up to get yours! By the way, you can also get Frequent Flyer reward points. Additional info below:

I just sent my name to fly on Orion’s flight test, scheduled to launch Dec. 4 – 6, 2014! Orion is NASA’s new spacecraft that will carry humans into deep space.
